Days of archaeology. 14-15-16 June 2019.

The Days of archaeology will begin on 14 June, 2019. This event was created in France in 2010, and reached Italy this year.

The Ministero per i Beni e le Attività culturali, is adhering  to the event with planned initiatives, workshops, conferences, promoting opportunities of exchange and discussion with the targeted communities.

These are the initiatives of the Polo museale of Sardinia:

There will be three educational workshops, as follows:

14 JUNE at 11.00: ONLY FOR TOUGH ONES.

Children will discover how to find answers through the study of human and animal bones with the help of an anthropologist and an archaeozoologist. Through the direct observation of bones they will try to become anthropologists for a day.

15 JUNE at 11.00: CER-AMìCA

Children will discover the common ceramic objects and how they were utilized in the ancient colony of Turris Libisonis, and they will learn how to create and decorate a small vase following the style of our Roman ancestors.

16 JUNE at 11.00: NOT EVERYTHING THAT SPARKLES IS GOLD

The workshop consists of a journey in the discovery of the most common jewels of the Roman colony of Turris Libisonis, and in the creation of a bulla or of a lunula, typical pieces of jewelry worn by children in ancient Rome.

Demonstrations and workshops, in collaboration with the Cooperativa Sémata, will be presented to children 6 to 11 years of age.

14 JUNE, sacred and profane fire: light on Rome

  • Demonstration: the cult of Vesta and the Vestal virgins.
  • Practice: workshop on the Roman lamp.

15 JUNE, stylus and styles: school during Roman age

  • Demonstration: school during Roman age
  •  Practice: workshop on writing skills during Roman times

16 JUNE, tiles: fashion and mosaics in the Roman world

  • Demonstration: apparel during Roman times
  • Practice: workshop on the Roman mosaic
