The Memoriale Giuseppe Garibaldi will be showing the drama-historical film Viva l’Italia (Long live Italy) directed by Roberto Rossellini (1960) on Saturday, 13 October, during its extended opening hours until 22.30. The film directed by the great maestro recalls one of the most important and notorious pages of the Italian history, Garibaldi’s expedition. He started his quest from Quarto, aiming to conquer the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, ending with his controversial meeting with King Vittorio Emanuele II in Teano, which sanctioned the submission of the Hero of Two Worlds to the Savoy kingdom.
The film projection is a parallel recount of the historical events of the famous Expedition of the Thousands, also represented throughout the third hall of the Memoriale Giuseppe Garibaldi.
