Virtual tour of the Museo archeologico nazionale of Cagliari.

From Friday 3 April, 2020, the Museo archeologico of Cagliari becomes virtual!

While waiting for the reopening of museums and places of culture, currently closed due to the sanitary emergency COVID-19, visitors will be able to delve into the history of Sardinia, from the ancient Neolithic to the year 1000, to retrace the favorite halls with ease, or to explore them for the very first time.

The museum of Cagliari adheres to the initiative of the Ministero per i Beni e le Attività culturali e per il Turismo, Culture does not stop, providing the user with a virtual journey that, thanks to 15 high resolution spherical images, will allow the virtual visitor to walk through the four exhibition floors of the Museum with its over 4000 artifacts on display, while sitting comfortably at home.

The project stems from an agreement between the Direzione regionale Musei Sardegna, the Teravista society, and the Università degli Studi di Padova, and is aimed to create virtual tours to promote the fruition of the public through Virtual Reality (VR) glasses. Soon the virtual tours of the Area archeologica Su Nuraxi of Barumini, of the Altare prenuragico di Monte d’Accoddi, and of the Pinacoteca nazionale of Sassari will be available for viewing, alongside the one of the Compendio Garibaldino of Caprera, already present in the VR glasses of the Sardinian museums.

Today, the virtual tour of the archaeological Museum of Cagliari will be accessible to everyone, meeting the public’s desire to visit the places close to their hearts. The tour will also be implemented soon with the viewing of the 3D models of the most important objects on display.
