The Museo Archeologico Nazionale of Cagliari is presenting a special evening/event dedicated to one of the most ancient Fraternity of Cagliari, the Confraternity of Saint Efisio, or the Banner of Virgin of the Holy Redemption. The event will take place until 23.00, during the exceptional night opening of the museum on Thursday 19 July, 2018.
As part of the initiatives associated with the exhibition Efisio. Martyrized by the Romans, sanctified by the Christians, cherished by the contemporaries, Antonio Salis, honorary brother and scholar, will retrace the history of the Fraternity from its origin, highlighting its activities and its symbols.
During the evening, the section of the exhibition dedicated to the Fraternity will be inaugurated, displaying some of its ornaments and other important pieces, such as the pendatif or ganza d’oro (golden brooch), a gift from Queen Maria Teresa d’Asburgo Este. The golden Toson, a solid gold medallion donated to city of Cagliari in 1679 by Carlo II, King of Sardinia and Aragon, will also be on display for the very first time. Thanks to the new service of guided tours with LIS (Italian sign language), the Museum is expanding its accessibility to the cultural contents offered, drawing more visitors to the beauty and richness of our cultural heritage. The evening will finish off with refreshments and wine tasting, gently offered by the Cantina di Mogoro.
This event coincides with Notte Verde (Green Night), a celebration promoted by the city of Cagliari as part of the Notti Colorate 2018 (Colored Nights 2018).
