After a long period of closure caused by the health emergency from Covid-19, the doors of the White House of Caprera are finally reopening.
We start again with important news: visits will take place independently with the support of information signs complete with QR-Code insights, in Italian and in English, accessible through the smartphone. The visitor can walk following the lightly marked paths, and become immersed in the historical frame of the courtyard, the garden personally created by Garibaldi, where the monumental trees, that are the colored background to the characteristic white buildings of the Compendio, can be appreciated in all their magnificence.
The visit continues inside the stable that was once the shelter for the animals the General loved so much, and that today houses numerous farm tools. It then resumes inside the White House, where the rooms breathe history at every step. Family portraits and furnishings that remind us of the simple daily life in Caprera, the battle memories, the legendary red shirt, the sabers, and the guns are disseminated inside the house. It can be traced, through the many present and used wheelchairs, the period of Garibaldi’s illness, ultimately reaching the room where he died on 2 June, 1882 , at the age of 75.
The visit proceeds outside where it will be possible to admire two boats and the small family cemetery, where the remains of Giuseppe Garibaldi rest under a granite rock.

Tickets: full-price ticket 7,00 euro, reduced-price ticket 2,00 euro. For the residents of La Maddalena the ticket will be free from 24 June to 9 July 2020.
