Back to the future. Artistic avant-gardes in Sassari at the end of the 20th century.

An exhibition dedicated to contemporary art of the last fifteen years of the 20th century will open in Sassari’s National Gallery on Friday, July 22, 2022.

Prompted by the initiative of a group of young artists, the city of Sassari comes alive with exhibitions and happenings: exhibitions and installations are organized in private homes, galleries, gyms and in the buildings of institutions. It is a period of great vivacity, and young Sassari art shows that it is possible to experience new paths: their breaking of patterns and of the sleepy local situation acts as a driving force – as it had been at the beginning of the century – for the artistic renewal of the whole island.
