The Compendio Garibaldino of Caprera is extending its visiting hours until 23.00 on Saturday, July 14, 2018. Annita Garibaldi Jallet, president of the Associazione Nazionale Veterani e Reduci Garibaldini (Garibaldi’s National Veteran Association) is presenting the tenth Notebook of the publication Camicia Rossa surrounded by the enchanting setting of the gardens of Garibaldi’s house. The Association published the periodical in 2017, during the 150th Anniversary of the Geneva International Congress for Peace and Freedom, and the United States of Europe of 1867.
Elected Honorary President, Giuseppe Garibaldi participated in the Congress with the representatives of various European countries. During the conference, he made one of his most famous speeches. The General, with his usual fervor and candor, declared the importance of universal values of peace and freedom as the foundation of all progress. His emotional words are still very appropriate today. The most famous parts of his speech are:
