Giovanna Damiani, director of the Polo Museale of Sardinia, and Roberto Concas, director of the Museo Archeologico Nazionale of Cagliari, are inaugurating the exhibition Woman or Goddess. The female representations in the Sardinian Pre-history and Proto-history period. The curators of the exhibition are the anthropologist Silvia Fanni, the archaeologist Marcella Sirigu and Laura Soro, with the scientific endorsement of Carlo Lugliè. The inauguration will take place in the conference room of the Museo Archeologico Nazionale of Cagliari on 8 December, 2018, at 17.00.
The richest collection of artifacts from the island Pre-history period is compared to some of the most ancient and famous peninsular relics, made of stone, clay, and bone. Female figures carved by our most distant ancestors. It will be an exciting journey through the Paleolithic Era during the Metal Age, represented by the wonderful creations of its nuragic pieces. The famous Venere of Savignano, that dates back to 25 thousand years ago, will open the exhibition itinerary, followed by the classic volumes of the Middle Neolithic, and the representations of the nuragic women, described through an essential and solemn stylistic rendering.
The exhibition will be open until 12 May, 2019, from Tuesday to Sunday, from 9.00 to 20.00.
