The Polo Museale of Sardinia, in close correlation with the territory, is consolidating its relationship with other regional cultural institutions.
The prestigious marble statue, kept in the Museo Archeologico Nazionale of Cagliari, known as the Mother Goddess of Senorbì or Turriga (named after the location where it was found), will be the main focal point of a dedicated exhibition titled The Goddess of Turriga, the mistery of a timeless icon. The exhibition will take place at the Museo civico archeologico MADN of Senorbì, from July 28 to August 5, 2018.

Mother Goddess of Senorbì
The artifact, of the geometric-cruciform type, is one of the best know Sardinian Neolithic idols. Its dimensions, the execution technique, and the formal representation, make the Mother Goddess a masterpiece able to compete with similar statuettes found in the vast Mediterranean basin. It is an icon of Sardinia prehistory that strongly identifies the community of Senorbì, and of all the Trexenta. In these areas the folk tradition about the mysterious events leading to its finding, is legendary.
Thanks to the valuable teamwork and the synergy of intents between institutions working together to achieve common objectives, The Polo Museale of Sardinia with the Museo Archeologico of Cagliari, the city of Senorbì, and the Cooperative Society Sa Domu Nosta, have made it possible to organize a great event to celebrate the Idol of Turriga, identifying the iconographic heritage of the Mediterranean.
