The Church of Sant’ Efisio in Nora and the medieval liturgical furnishings of San Macario.

Within the initiatives associated to the exhibition Efisio. Martyred by the Romans, sanctified by the Christians, cherished by the contemporaries, the Museo Archeologico Nazionale of Cagliari is organizing a lecture led by Nicoletta Usai and Andrea Pala from the University of Cagliari, titled The church of Sant’Efisio in Nora and the medieval liturgical furnishings of San Macario.

Through an excursus on the historical phases of the church, it is possible to profoundly appreciate this monumental jewel, analyzing its historic-artistic, and architectural aspects. Visitors can admire the medieval liturgical furnishings of San Macario exhibited at the Museo Archeologico of Cagliari for the first time.

The Middle-Byzantine liturgical furnishings called pluteus, were recovered near the island of San Macario. They were probably destined to the small church dedicated to the martyred saint, but never reached their destination after the sinking of the ship that was carrying them.

This is an event of great cultural importance that enriches the exhibition of Efisio with new details and interesting deepening.
