A press conference to present the new exhibition In the footsteps of Clemente at the Museo Sanna in Sassari, took place this morning, 27 April, 2021. Created by Alghero designer Antonio Marras, the exhibition will be inaugurated on June 18, 2021 and will remain on display for a whole year in the Padiglione Clemente.
The exhibition will be a dialogue between past and present through a careful and thorough selection of the vast ethnographic heritage of the Museum (clothes, jewellery, artefacts) along with the archaeological finds and testimonies of modern and contemporary art.
The event was announced by Bruno Billeci, Regional Director of Sardinia Museums, and Elisabetta Grassi, Director of the Museo Nazionale G.A. Sanna.
“The idea of the exhibition stems from the desire to enhance the rich heritage donated by Cav. Gavino Clemente. The museum’s ethnographic collection is not only the oldest in Sardinia but also one of the richest on the island in terms of quantity and variety of finds “, said director Grassi.
“For the preparation and, even before, for the conception of the exhibition”, Bruno Billeci said, “we were able to take advantage of the imagination, the taste but also the expertise of an exceptional exhibition designer, the stylist Antonio Marras, whom I want to thank for the enthusiasm he is showing in this enterprise. In compliance with the museum graphic criteria, and the needs related to the optimal conservation of the materials, Antonio had a free rein in enhancing the artefacts. And the result that has been taking shape over the last few weeks is, in my opinion, exciting”.
The project is financed with patronage from the Fondazione di Sardegna (donation) for supporting measures, promotion, enhancement and preservation of the regional cultural heritage.
