Saint Efisio. The sacred establishment of a colony in Cagliari during Baroque time in Sardinia.

Giampaolo Salice, researches of Modern History at the University of Cagliari, is presenting the unpublished data of an on-going study that  investigates the existing links between the procession of the first of May and the seventeenth century’s village named Capoterra. This event is part of the initiatives related to the exhibition Efisio. Martyrized by the Romans, sanctified by the Christians, cherished by the contemporaries.  During the conference the scholar will highlight the political motivation that led to the beginning of the procession dedicated to the martyred saint, and how he played a leading role in justifying  the establishment of a new colony located near Capoterra.
