A conference at the Pinacoteca Nazionale of Cagliari for the 2018 National Landscape Day, on Thursday 15 March, at 10.30.
To celebrate the National Landscape Day, the Pinacoteca Nazionale of Cagliari is organizing a conference titled North of Castello: Cagliari’s landscape and development. During this initiative, which is going to include students from the work/school program, particular attention will be given to the birth and expansion of the city of Cagliari. The city’s name originates from the word Kar(ra), which means rock, and identifies the morphological and landscape nature of the place. This location has, somehow determined the establishment, the urban development, the economy, and the history of the city. The focal point of the conference is going to be the Northern block of Castello, where the Cittadella dei Musei is located, which has been the place for natural and military fortifications since the fifteenth century. A sequence of representative images will emphasize the environmental and landscape characteristics of the site.
