F@MU – Family at the museum. Small but precious.

After the great success of the  past editions, and for the sixth consecutive year, the National families at the museum day is back.

It will be a special time to visit the museums with the whole family. On Sunday, 14 October, throughout the national territory, museums, foundations, and other exhibition spaces will open their doors to families with educational visits, themed games, special initiatives, and activities created for the occasion.

It will be possible to spend a different Sunday with the family at the Pinacoteca Nazionale of Sassari and the Antiquarium Turritano of Porto Torres.

A real treasure hunt for children will be organized, allowing the enjoyment of art and having fun at the same time. The participants will search for the treasures (paintings) kept in the various museum halls, following the hints given by the educational section staff, and later, reproduce them with paper and colors.

Event time: from 9.00 to 13.00

Reservations phone number +39 079 231560

Ages: children 3 to 6 years old

The event is dedicated to the commercial relashionship that tied Turris Libisonis to ancient Rome, and especially to the Naviculari Turritani, traders of ancient Colonia, who had a representation office in Ostia (port of Rome), as demonstrated by the famous mosaic found in the Piazzale delle Corporazioni. Children and their parents will be guided through the exhibition halls and the archaeological area, searching for the port and the commercial traffic of ancient Turris. The young visitors, with the help of their companions, will be allowed to copy and keep their replica of the famous mosaic of the Naviculari Turritani found in Ostia.

The archaeological park of Ostia, twinned for the occasion with the Antiquarium Turritano, is organizing children workshops dedicated to trades and navigation, and an historical reenactment by Sardinia Romana, concentrating on the Naviculari Turritani.

Time of the event: from 16.00 to 18.00
