Sassari’s Pinacoteca Nazionale preserves several hundred paintings and objects such as prints, drawings, small oils on copper and much more in its storerooms.

The day will be dedicated to providing backstage insight into the work that goes on inside a museum. Luana Toniolo will introduce the event, and Maria Paola Dettori and restorer Laura Scarpato will narrate and analyze the works, collections and restorations.
Petty curiosities, dated attribution squabbles, unhappy restorations that need to be remedied, ancient works and contemporary works to be ‘whipped into shape’ so that they are ready for exhibition: a rare opportunity for a behind-the-scenes unprecedented, varied and – we hope – even fun!
