The Sanna museum in Sassari opens the doors to its garden.

The Museo archeologico ed etnografico G.A. Sanna of Sassari , closed  for restoration  and renovation of the exhibition spaces, will reopen its recently upgraded garden with a series of initiatives with free admission, on the weekends of the 10th and 11th October 2020.

There will be a conference titled Between nature and culture. Invitation to the garden of Museo Sanna, on Saturday the 10th, from 16.30 to 18.30.

During the event, the history of the building that hosts the museum and its park will be retraced, and future enhancement projects will be illustrated.  The opening to the public will also be an opportunity to talk about the care, management and enhancement of the collection. The director of the Direzione Regionale Musei Sardegna, Bruno Billeci, and the director of the Sanna Museum, Elisabetta Grassi, will speak, followed by Paola Ruggeri, from the University of Sassari, who will illustrate the epigraphic evidence of Roman Sardinia in the garden space.

On the evening of Saturday, from 20.30 to 22.00, Denise Gueye (voice) and Simone Faedda (guitar) will dedicate a concert to the great jazz singers, who, with their extraordinary and unforgettable voices, are still considered to be the brightest stars in the music world, such as Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughan, and Betty Carter. Their stories will be retraced through the songs they interpreted.

On Sunday the 11th of October, from 11.00 to 13.15, the garden of the museum will be the stage for Breakfast on the grass at House Sanna. As part of the inherited ancient park of the family home, the garden will come to life with a picnic, and the re-enactment of the period the Sanna family lived in.  Thanks to the faithful staging created by the historical group Quiteria and by the Vittoriani Itineranti, clothes and objects from a distant reality will be on display, just like in a living painting, of which the surrounding trees still hear the echoes.

In compliance with health legislation, in order to contain the infection from Covid-19, admissions to these events will be limited to a maximum number of people. Reservations will be required at the following email address:
