The Museo Antiquarium Turritano of Porto Torres is reopening to the public.

A ceremony that anticipates the opening to the public of the Museo Nazionale Archeologico nazionale “Antiquarium Turritano”of Porto Torres will take place on Friday, 23 July, at 18:00. The inauguration of the museum will be on 24 July.

The completed renovated Museum takes on a more modern and functional look with a new exhibition.

The idea behind the new exhibition is to highlight the history of the territory through the conception of a linear and immediate path, with fewer pieces in the display cases complemented by new graphic devices, in-depth information, which can be downloaded on mobile devices using QR codes, in Italian and English, and 3D multimedia instruments, which will enrich the visitor’s museum experience. The exhibition is divided into seven major thematic areas, which develop in subsections focusing on the history of the colony of Turris Libisonis with three major themed areas dedicated to public and private life, and to life after death.

The Antiquarium Turritano will be open Tuesday to Saturday, from 9.00 to 16.00, last admission at 15.00. In compliance with safety regulations due to the covid-19 health emergency, admissions will be limited. The cost of the ticket is € 4.00. The cumulative ticket to visit the museum and the archaeological area is € 7.00.

Admissions to the Museum will be limited and it will be mandatory to wear a face mask, to keep a safe distance, and to follow the instructions of the staff and the information panels throughout the visit.
