The Dusay Bulwark in the area of San Pancrazio in Cagliari.

A transitioning military architecture between middle ages and modern era. To learn more about the Dusay Bulwark, architectural testimony built between the end of the fifteenth and the beginning of the end of the sixteenth century in the area of San Pancrazio, the Polo Museale of Sardinia will host a conference presented by Andrea Pirinu from the Civil, Environmental, and Architectural Engineering Department of the University of Cagliari, entitled “The Dusay Bulwark, in the area of San Pancrazio, in Cagliari.” The lecture will take place on Thursday December 14, 2017 at 17:00, in the conference room of San Pancrazio’s exhibition place, Cittadella dei Musei, Piazza Arsenale 1, in Cagliari.
The Dusay Bulwark was the original name for the Space of San Pancrazio, and was utilized for the defense of the northern front of the Castle. Around the middle of the fifteenth century, in Europe, the introduction of guns started a process of transformation and modernization of the medieval type military defenses.
The architectures that characterized that historical moment were defined as transition, but they actually represented a precise answer to the needs for the transitory conditions of war.
A guided tour of the architectural structure of the Space of San Pancrazio will follow.
This occurrence is part of scheduled events for Musei di Storia with the theme “Iron and Fire”.
The exhibition will be open Tuesday thru Saturday, from 9:00 to 13:00, until Saturday January 6, 2018.
