Roman Nora between excavation and virtual reality

What was it like to live in the Imperial time, between the third and fourth century, when Efisio arrived in Sardinia?

As part of the events associated with the exhibition Efisio. Martyred by the Romans, sanctified by the Christians, cherished by the contemporaries, Carlo Tronchetti, former director of the Museo Archeologico of Cagliari, and Jacopo Bonetto, professor of classic archaeology of the University of Padova, will illustrate the Imperial phase of the city of Nora. Both scholars took part of ongoing excavations and research for several decades, and with their lectures they will delineate the place where the Saint was martyred. The audience will experience the daily life and the walks among the streets of a city of great importance, through the eyes of a Sirian military during the Roman Imperial time.

Also, this event is an opportunity for the visitor to experience the virtual reconstruction of the city. Scientific evidence and research conducted by the University of Padova, Genova, Milano, Viterbo, Cagliari, and the Superintendence ABAP of Cagliari allow the visitor to relive Nora’s square and main monuments during Imperial times, through a sort of time travel.

The conference will be preceded by a tour that, with the use of appropriate visual goggles, will allow the virtual visit of the most famous archaeological sites in Sardinia, like Su Nuraxi in Barumini, Su Mulinu in Villanovafranca, Sa Sedda e Sos Carros in Oliena, just to name a few, and to admire the tridimensional reconstruction of Roman Nora.
