King Barbaro’s breakfasts. Archaeology conversations over coffee.

For the summer holidays, Porto Torres is organizing a series of events inside the Area archeologica of Turris Libisonis to discover the less known aspects of archaeology and history of the past in an original manner: breakfast over a cup of coffee!

All the events will be held outside, in a sheltered location of the archaeological area, and are dedicated to an historical-archaeological subject or theme. Participants will enjoy a delicious breakfast of juices, sweets, tea, and coffee, in a more intimate and pleasurable atmosphere.

These are the themes of the three morning events:

19 JULY: “Roman breakfasts”. Cooking conversations during the Roman age.

This event is dedicated to Roman age cooking: food preservation and preparation, recipes and special dishes, eating habits of the different social classes.

9 AUGUST: “How are you dressed?”. Conversations about Roman age clothing.

This event is dedicated to fashion during the Imperial era, with the recreation of the clothes, the accessories, and the textiles utilized to make them, and also the make-up, and the hairstyles of the Roman age. Participants will get a chance to try on reproductions of clothing and accessories of that time.

29 AUGUST: “Giovanni Antonio Sanna’s breakfasts”. The economy situation of Sassari during Giovanni Antonio’s time.

On the occasion of the bicentenary of the birth of Giovanni Antonio Sanna,  there will be a new  appointment of the event “Il Sanna fuori dal Sanna”-The Sanna outside the Sanna– dedicated to Sassari’s economy situation during 1800.

Free admission for all the activities. Reservations are necessary for a maximum of 20 participants for each event.
