From Francesco Crispi to G. Garibaldi – 1894.

As part of the event organized by the Compendio Garibaldino titled Caprera 2 June – 4 July,  from 1882 until the present day, a journey in memory of the Risorgimento, open until 15 September 2019, the Museo nazionale Memoriale Giuseppe Garibaldi of Caprera, will have a special opening with an exhibition titled “From Francesco Crispi to G. Garibaldi – 1894”  on Wednesday 21 August, 2019, from 15.30 to 19.30.

For this occasion, the golden bronze wreath donated in memory of Garibaldi by the Prime Minister Francesco Crispi in 1894,  will be on display in the first hall of the museum’s fourth block. Crispi was a leading figure of our Risorgimento, and the promoter and biggest supporter of the Expedition of the Thousand. Thanks to his incentive and encouragement, Garibaldi decided to leave for Sicily.

The precious relic, made with oak and laurel leaves, is part of the significant collection of testimonials to the memory of Giuseppe Garibaldi, donated after his death to pay tribute to the Unifier of Italy.
