The Giornate Europee del Patrimonio (GEP), European Heritage Days (EHD), one of the most anticipated events promoted by the Ministero per i Beni e le Attività Culturali (Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities) is happening again this year. This event involves the 50 countries whose main objective is to promote the knowledge of the cultural heritage of each State of the European Union. These states signed the European cultural convention to give active participation to all the citizens in safeguarding their heritage, and passing it on to future generations.
The event will take place throughout the national and European territory on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 September, 2018. The chosen theme for this edition of GEP 2018 is L’arte di condividere (The art of sharing). The intent is to share the knowledge of the cultural heritage in all its historical, artistic, archaeological, and anthropological components present in all cultural sites, with their material and immaterial expressions, their territory, and the awareness and experiences of the communities.
The Giornate Europee del Patrimonio (European Heritage Days) primarily target the newer generations and the students, and focuses on the theme of inclusion and accessibility. For this reason it is asked to give particular attention to the implementation of accessibility , with the removal of architectonic barriers, and the overcoming of the cultural divide.
A great collective participation of municipalities, museums, archives, libraries, cultural associations and co-ops were involved in the 2017 Edition of the event. Thanks to the untiring work of hundreds of cultural operators, 80 projects were accomplished throughout the regional territory, obtaining a large consensus.
We hope to beat the extraordinary result obtained with the previous edition, that placed Sardinia among the regions with the most number of entries.
For these reasons, all public and private institutions are invited to participate, and promote their heritage with direct actions or in collaboration with this museum center, or with the competent superintendence offices of the territory. It is recommended to make arrangements with the museum center offices.
For this occasion, museums and government cultural sites will be open on Saturday 22 for 3 extra hours, and the cost of the ticket will be a symbolic € 1,00. However, on Sunday 23, they will resume regular visiting hours. Same conditions should be also extended to non-government culture sites to standardize the cultural offer.
Aiming to the renewal of the fruitful collaboration and of a constant growing cooperation with the entire regional territory, please forward the proper documentation to the email addresses below, by Monday 27 August, 2018:
